As part of Luton’s continued commitment to disabled children and young people and their families, the Council and the Luton Short Breaks Consortium offer a range of short breaks services to meet the varying needs of children and young people, including those with autistic spectrum disorders, behaviour that challenges, profound and complex health needs, physical disability, cognitive needs and sensory impairments.
The short breaks brochure below (download), provides details about all the services and support available for children and young people. For the first time, the statement covers services for young people up to 25 years.
The offer in Luton is provided as a continuum of support, from the community based services provided by the Luton VCS Short Breaks Consortium right through to the specialist support offered by the Local Authority through the Children with Disabilities Team and Adult Social Care.
The community based services are available directly to parents to access, whilst the specialist support requires an assessment of need.
